Usage Limits
Last updated September 19, 2026
Every VERTTX plan includes room to work, and that room grows as you move up. This page explains what counts toward your usage, what doesn't, when it resets, and a few simple habits that help you get the most out of your plan. It is the detail behind the "Usage limits apply" note on our pricing, and it forms part of our Terms of Service. If you ever have a question about limits, we're happy to help — details are at the bottom.
What counts toward your usage
Your usage is measured by the messages you send to your assistants during each billing period. In general, each message you send counts once — no matter how long it is, and no matter how many files are attached to the assistant. A few heavier actions can count as more than one message; today that means generating a downloadable document, which is a larger job and is available on paid plans. Turning on Deep thinking for complex work does not cost you any extra messages.
What does not count
Setting up and maintaining your assistants is always free and never counts toward your usage:
- Building an assistant and answering its setup questions
- Uploading files to an assistant, and updating them later
- Editing what an assistant knows about your business
- Browsing your past conversations and assistants
Only the messages you send in a chat count — so you can give your assistants as much context as you like without spending usage on it.
When your usage resets
Your usage resets at the start of each monthly period. On paid plans the reset date is tied to the day you subscribed and recurs every month — including on annual plans, so your capacity refreshes monthly rather than once a year. During your free trial, you have 7 days to try VERTTX; the trial ends after those 7 days or once you've used its included messages, whichever comes first. You can always see how much room you have left, shown as a simple percentage, in Settings → Billing.
Making the most of your plan
A few habits help you get more done within any plan:
- Put standing context in your assistant. Anything you tell an assistant during setup — your business, your voice, your customers — is remembered for free, so you never spend a message re-explaining it.
- Upload reference files. Attach the documents your assistant should know instead of pasting them into chat each time. Uploads don't count toward usage.
- Ask complete questions. A clear, detailed message gets you further than several quick ones, so you cover more ground per message.
- Use Deep thinking when the work calls for it. It brings more effort to complex questions at no extra message cost.
- Keep an eye on Settings → Billing. The usage percentage tells you at a glance how much room is left before your next reset.
Higher plans and fair use
Higher plans come with more capacity, more assistants, and additional features. Our plans are built for genuine professional use by a person or business — not for automated, bulk, shared-account, or resale-scale workloads, which our Usage Policy does not permit. Our top plan is generous enough that most people never reach its ceiling, and we apply reasonable fair-use limits so that no single account can degrade the experience for everyone else. If we believe an account is being used outside its intended purpose, we may throttle it or get in touch before taking further action. If you're a legitimately heavy user and need more, that's a good problem to have — get in touch and we'll help you find the right fit.
If you reach your limit
Nothing is lost. Your assistants, files, and conversation history all stay exactly as they are. You can upgrade for more capacity right away, or simply wait for your usage to reset at the start of your next period. We'll show you when that reset happens.
If a payment fails
If a renewal payment doesn't go through, you keep full access for seven days while we retry and let you know. After that, your account becomes read-only — everything stays viewable and exportable, but new messages wait until the payment succeeds.

Plans, features, and usage limits may change over time. When they do, we'll be clear about what your plan includes. This page describes how VERTTX measures usage in general terms; it is not a commitment to any specific number of messages beyond what your current plan states.
